
New Largo Offloading Facility
A dedicated coal truck-offloading facility feeding pre-certified coal into the Kusile
stockyard.
1. Scope
MTI Engineering was awarded a contract for the Project Management, Procurement,
Fabrication, Erection, and Installation of Structural, Mechanical, and Plate Work
components.
2. Collaboration and Timeline
The project was executed in collaboration design, earthworks, civil, and electrical
teams, ensuring timely delivery within the allocated schedule. The project
commenced on 23 October 2023, with completion targeted for 13 May 2025,
including the commissioning of the Tariff Sampling Station and Audit Bin. The “First
Coal” milestone was achieved on 5 December 2024.
3. System Overview
Main Conveyors:
Conveyor P02-CVY-0615 – 976 m
Cross Conveyor P02-CVY-0613 – 145 m
Conveyor P02-CVY-0615A – 157 m
Truck Tipping Stations 1 & 2: 100t capacity, designed to accommodate coal
deliveries by trucks operating 16 hours per day, 6 days a week, for 51 weeks
annually
Sampling Station: Continuous sampling station installed on Conveyor 615, supported
by a 100 m feed conveyor.
Audit Bin & Conveyor: Installed an Audit Bin and associated conveyor system on
Conveyor 615A for verification of mass‑meter readings to ensure accuracy and
compliance
